Canstruction

Canstruction® is a benefit competition comprised of teams, made up predominately of architects & engineers, who design and build structures out of canned foods. At the end of the competition, all of the food collected is donated to local Second Harvest member food banks for distribution to shelters, soup kitchens, pantries, elderly and day care centers. The SDA Dallas event benefits the North Texas Food Bank. Dallas’ first Canstruction® event was held in 1996 at NorthPark Center. Each year the event has grown.

This year, the Canstruction® Dallas “build out” will be held on September 6 at NorthPark Center. Teams will start canstructing as early as 6am and must be complete by 1pm. The structures will be on display September 6 through September 14. The winners – “Juror’s Favorite” will be forwarded to a national panel and the national winners are declared at the SDA/AIA National Convention each spring.
